At the Swiss Battery Technology Center (SBTC), we tackle this challenge by researching the sustainability of electrification.
We have the opportunity to operate Switzerland’s largest battery test laboratory in collaboration in collaboration with the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). Through applied research, we show how batteries can efficiently be disassembled and their core materials reused.
Our final goal is to enable the highest recycling rate of the entire battery as possible. While doing so, we try to improve the safety of our working staff and the low costs of execution through AI supported robotization.
That also means creating batteries that can have a second life or can be recycled more efficiently. Building for reuse and building for recycling are vital subjects in our work.
